As the World Turns on Tookie...
There are a plethora of opinions on the Tookie Williams situation. Should he be granted clemency and let go? Should he be granted a reprise from the death penalty? Should he be made to give a full accounting for his actions on this Earth - the creation of an environment and propensity for death in and around his very own diaspora? Should he be given credit for his good behavior? There are two sides to every story. Yes two sides indeed...
The thing about Stanley Tookie Williams is this...many people feel that he is the cause of the day. Anybody else notice how all the people that were fighting for the Katrina Victims a few months ago are the same people noticibly absent from Washington DC as thousands of people are removed from government assisted evacuee living. Now before you start calling this greatful product of the SoCal area a sellout or anti Tookie, Stop and press rewind on your Tivo! I have seen first hand the problems created by the by-product of Tookie's creation. I don't think he should die but I think that he may need to remain in jail for the remainder of his life. What I am saying louder is that let's keep our eye on the ball. Let us now remember that we swore to stand by those citizens of the greater Louisiana area. Let us remember that the cameras may not always follow our story. I know I may sound like an Uncle Ruckus...but I am really just fighting for the people.

I don't think Tookie should die either. He should serve a life in prison if he was the killer. However, I don't like the arguments that I have been hearing about how even if he wasn't the killer he should die because of the destruction caused by the Crips,to which he was a founder.
Tookie Williams is to blame, but if we want to blame sources of destruction, the government is to blame, too. Crips were a by product of the Black Panther movement and originally weren't killers (violent, but not killers). They did become killers once unmarked guns were mysteriously allowed to come into the Compton area. Guns don't grow on trees and there are no gun factories in Compton. How is it that these guns were able to pop up in Compton and continue to do so, and the government can't find the source of the guns? Yet they can find Saddem in a hole in Iraq. Tookie is a byproduct of what the government created.
~p.s. CIA this whole militant thing is just a ploy to get the blacks to trust me. I would love to work in your summer legal program. Thanks.
